Abstract
Forms of Stephanodiscus alpinus, which differ greatly in valve diameter and other characters from the literature data, have been found during our study of materials from lakes of Kamchatka. Scanning electron microscopy analysis of these populations has allowed to specify variability range of morphological features and, using the literature data, to emend the diagnosis of S. alpinus.
