Abstract

Analysis of morphological characters traditionally used for division of Hierochloё repens (Host) P. Beauv. s. str. and H. stepporum P. A. Smirn. has been carried out. The characters are shown not to be used as diagnostic. Principal component analysis using 11 characters has shown that all the analysed specimens form a single swarm. This gives an evidence that there is no reason to distinguish H. stepporum as an independent species or infraspecific taxon.
