Annotation

A short review of the problem of vegetation classi­fication in the USSR and Russia is given. For the future development of this sphere of research, the active and complex use of permanent plot data seems being of main importance. The analysis of this material should be based upon the modern PC methods of data processing and follow the Code of Phytocoenological Nomenclature.
