Seed laboratory Peter the Great Botanical Garden of the Komarov Botanical Institute named RAS
The seed laboratory of the Botanical Garden has existed since 1835 for over 185 years.
For the past 12 years, we have been releasing a new Index seminum (Delectus) every year. Number 158 was published in 2021. It includes both spores, fruits and seeds collected in 2020, as well as old seeds, which we send at the request of botanical gardens for carpological collections, to study their morphology and anatomy.
According to the international agreement between the botanical gardens of the world on a non-currency exchange of disputes, fruits and seeds of plants, the Peter the Great Botanical Garden annually receives from 1500 to 2500 packages of reproductive diasporas from 180-250 botanical gardens of the world, we send on request from 1000 to 3500 packages of seeds. Contacts maintains our garden with almost 370-400 gardens of the world. To our great regret, due to the virus pandemic, a number of gardens were not included in the exchange of plant material.
